JFK Files: A Well-Spun Official Lie

Every president who has ordered the declassification of the President John F. Kennedy assassination files has likely done so with honest and transparent intentions. We do not suppose that President Trump has any other intention than fulfilling a promise sincerely made to Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. about declassifying the files. We sincerely encourage him to release all of the files as he has promised. Don't be surprised though if the tens of thousands of pages of documents do not shed any further light on what happened even though they offer promising leads for conspiracy theorists.
Few events in American history have generated as much speculation as the JFK assassination. Many of us were not alive at the time, but we still speculate with feverish curiosity as to what really happened. Our parents have impressed on us the gravity of the moment. Americans all love a mystery. The JFK assassination is the supreme mystery.
Theories have come and gone over the decades as to what actually happened. Were there multiple shooters? Was JFK shot by a Secret Service agent in the car? Were Vice President Lyndon Johnson or Jackie Kennedy involved? Was Lee Harvey Oswald affiliated with the CIA? Did the CIA assassinate JFK?
The lack of government transparency has stoked these questions over the decades. Historians and other experts have spent extraordinary amounts of time analyzing evidence and clues. The Warren Commission conducted a searching inquiry. None of these inquiries, public or private, have provided any satisfactory answers.
In 1986, London Weekend Television even filmed a unscripted televised trial of Lee Harvey Oswald in which famed lawyers Vincent Bugliosi and Gerry Spence argued whether Oswald actually killed JFK. A mock jury ultimately found Oswald guilty.
What is striking to us is how available various conspiracy theories are pertaining to JFK's assassination. It's almost as if they are too easy to find and develop. Then, after some level of work from experts and others, the conspiracy theories are disproved, albeit often unsatisfactorily.
That alone smells like a conspiracy to hide something bigger.
If you were going to plan the assassination of the President of the United States and wanted a foolproof method to hide your tracks, what better way to do it than to plant countless, plausible possibilities of other conspirators that lead to dead ends and unsatisfactory rebuttals?
In other words, alternative theories as to who killed JFK are too easy to develop and too hard to rebut decisively.
A master hand is behind the scenes - one that thought about the consequences of a national curiosity unleashed. That master hand planned perfect cover for who really killed JFK - numerous conspiracies that lead in every conceivable direction and render it impossible to discern real leads from the fake ones.
The JFK files will contain no smoking guns. Instead, they will demonstrate a well-spun official lie concocted to conceal who really killed JFK.
That is beyond scary for the fate of our nation.
